Last appearance

City of the Rats

Zod was one of the Sorceress Thaegan's thirteen monstrous children.[1]

History

Zod was born sometime after Thaegan's return to Deltora. Its father, if there was one, is unknown. It and its twelve siblings roamed Deltora's northeast, terrorising the countryside.[1]

The Deltora Book of Monsters

Zod and its siblings captured a group of travellers on the road and ate all but one before falling asleep. The man was able to escape, though he had no memory of anything before the incident. Josef met this man, and learned from him information on Thaegan's children for his book.[1]

The Lake of Tears

Zod was mentioned in the golden-eyed giant's riddle to Lief.[2]

City of the Rats

Zod and its ten surviving siblings—Hot, Tot, Fie, Fly, Zan, Pik, Snik, Lun, Lod, and Ichabod— join forces to seek vengeance on Lief, Barda, and Jasmine for the deaths of their mother and siblings. As wolves, they pursued the companions and caught them in a net trap. However, Lief was able to trick them into fighting one another over how to divide up the three. The fighting became lethal, and Zod and all its siblings except for Ichabod died.[3]

Physical appearance

Zod was green, had a large mouth, and was covered in lumps.[1]

In the anime, it is teal, lumpy, and only has one eye.

Abilities

Zod had shapeshifting powers that allowed it to take on the form of a wolf, and possibly other forms.[3]

Anime

Zod's role, as with all his siblings, was expanded upon in the anime. He, Lun, Lod, Pik, Snik, Zan, and Ichabod agreed to help Thaegan when she returned for the second time. He and Zan tormented Jasmine in the Mirror of Fear by suspending her in a small cage over boiling water. The only way out being to solve a block puzzle.

He was ejected from the mirror by Lief, and witnessed the companions defeat Ichabod. After Thaegan committed suicide, Zod was the first of her children to follow after her.
