Zandalin is a man of Del who served as the Del Harbour Master for 15 years in the time of King Endon and during the Shadowlands invasion. Zandalin was a Resistance fighter.[1]
While most of the traders in Del harbour did not believe Mab and Sorrel's claims that the Enemy was about to invade Deltora, Zandalin was one of the few people who did not openly dispute them, however he was too honourable to call for evacuation, saying that if the Enemy was coming indeed, everyone should stay and fight. Zandalin did not know Deltora's history as Mab did, however, and was unaware that if the Shadow Lord was coming it meant the Belt of Deltora had been broken, which left the land defenceless if invasion should happen. While the Rosalyn fleet fled Deltora, Zandalin stayed and became a member of the Resistance.
At some point Zandalin passed away (possibly having died fighting the Shadow Army) and had a gravestone raised in the Del harbour graveyard. The words in the stone read: "Here lives Zandalin, gallant Resistance figher, Del Harbour Master for 15 years."[1]
