Ruby territory is a territory in the north-east and east of Deltora. It is the easternmost territory in Deltora and is bordered by Opal territory to the west and Topaz territory to the south. Ruby territory is home of the Ralads and of many foreigners from other islands, such as the people of Broome and the people of D'Or.[1]

Ruby territory is home to the Ralad tribe, who are characterised by their short stature, blue-grey skin, red hair, and black eyes. Ralads are peaceable, private folk who are master architects. They have a great love for music, nature, and building.[2][1]

The capital of Ruby territory is Raladin. The Ralads' city is secluded and its location is not known to many outsiders. Raladin is a peaceful city of round brick dwellings and outlying gardens centred around a pool or fountain.[2][1]

The Ruby territory's gem is the Ruby. Red as blood, the gem is the symbol of happiness. It grows pale in the presence of evil, or when misfortune threatens its wearer. It also wards off evil spirits, and is an antidote to snake venom.[2]
