Midsummer Eve was the day the sorcerer Annoltis had chosen for his magical Gifting ritual, which would strengthen him and allow him to live another seven years. Originally a day of celebration, the ritual had to be repeated every seven years to keep Annoltis alive.[1]

  • Midsummer Eve is an actual observed date in real life, as well as a holiday in many parts of the world. It is centred on summer solstice, and as such it would be the June solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the December solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, and depending on the shift of the calendar, it would occur sometime between June 20 and June 22 in the Northern Hemisphere and between December 20 and December 23 in the Southern Hemisphere. Summer soltice is the day of the year which usually has the most sun during day hours. In many parts of the world, the day or evening, or several days, are celebrated by lighting bonfires. The Christian Church designated June 24 as the feast day of the early Christian martyr Saint John the Baptist These holidays are celebrated by many Christian dominations, including the Roman Catholic Church, Lutheran Church and Anglican Communion, as well as by freemasonry.
