Liza and Dodd were Plains and husband and wife, respectively. They were the parents of Opal.
Opal the Dreamer
Liza and Dodd were simple farmers in Opal territory. One day one of them dreamed that sometime later a child would be born to them who will have a son who will rule the land of Dragons with the hidden messages that that child will bring good fortune to them.
Tales of Deltora
When Adin arrived at the Broad River on his quest to retrieve the seven tribal gemstones of the Land of Dragons, the spirits of Liza and Dodd were summoned to row him across the river. They spoke cryptically to Adin and requested that they be allowed to hold the Belt of Deltora as payment, but Adin told them he could not part with it. They were dejected at being dennied their one request, but were compelled to row Adin regardless, and let him stay in their house for the night when he asked.
When Adin awoke the next day, Liza and Dodd were gone, and their house was ruined.
In life, Liza and Dodd were loving parents, but also very protective of their only child to the point of paranoia.
When they returned at ghosts, the two of them spoke in cryptic sentences and always mentioned how they were ready to sleep forever. They were also compelled to do whatever Adin asked of them, most likely due to the power of the Topaz.
As Opal is their only daughter, Liza and Dodd loved her more than anything. However, they were also fiercely protective of her to the point of making her wear protective gloves and boots before leaving the house.
