When Lief and Barda were trapped aboard The Lady Luck, Lief figured that they must play a game to escape the gambling room. The Cage-the-Beetle Puzzle was one of the only games that provided the winner with a profit. The game consisted of six jeweled beetles and thirteen golden rods. The player must put each beetle in an equal-sized cage using only twelve rods before the time ran out. Lief arranged the twelve rods in triangles and solved the puzzle before the time ran out.
