New interview with Emily Rodda, posted August 20th, 2017

"Emily Rodda emerged in 1984 with Something Special. It was the start of a sparkling literary career. Her children’s books range from picture books to young adult fiction, the best known being the fantasy series, Deltora Quest, published in around thirty countries. Emily says 1992 was a special year as it was the year she became a full time writer." - ABC.net - Listen to / watch the entire interview at http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/sundayextra/2017-08-20/8808984

Hi there Deltora fans and active contributors. This is my third review of the Three Doors series, this time I will be reviewing The Third Door, the third book in the series. Obviously do not read in you haven't read The Golden Door, The Silver Door and The Third Door.

Following on from the events of The Silver Door, Rye, Sonia, Dirk and Sholto return to Weld and discover that the people of Weld are beginning to resent the Warden's inaction of the skimmer threat, and we are able to gain a valuable perspective into the events that have been occuring since Rye and Sonia departed for the golden Door. This provides some interesting reading, however The Silver Door failed to provide any meaningful side stories and thus the beginning of The Third …

Hi there Deltora fans and active contributors. This is my second review of the Three Doors series, this time I will be reviewing The Silver Door, the second book in the series. Obviously do not read in you haven't read The Golden Door and The Silver Door.

Although The Silver Door is a solid book in its own right, in comparison to the other two books in the series, to myself personally, it is the weakest in the series. Unlike The Golden Door which introduces many elements of the original series and introduces a very enjoyable and interactive environment, The Silver Door is a much darker and more serious book, heavily focusing on darker themes like despair and things like slavery and dark magic. The Silver Door does still introduce elements f…

Hi there Deltora fans and active contributors. I thought I would try something different in writing a personal review/general synopsis on The Three Doors series which I have just finished reading. These thoughts are my opinion, so let me know if you agree or disagree or just want to discuss further. Here I will discuss The Golden Door which is my favourite book in the series, follow up articles for The Silver Door and The Third Door will be published soon. Obviously do not read unless you have read at least The Golden Door!!

The first book, in my opinion the best in the series, focuses on the introduction of the main protagonist, Rye, who is the youngest of three brothers living the walled city of Weld. Weld itself is currently being terro…

HarperCollins Australia just recently announced in an article on their website that they are publishing a new book by Emily Rodda in August 2017. The book will be called The Shop at Hooper’s Bend and is in the genre of fantasy. It does not appear that this book will be set in the same world as Deltora, and it doesn't sound like it will be in the same tone or mood either. I think we can expect the book to be for slightly younger children, based on the description on the article, which I have quoted below:

The Shop at Hooper’s Bend follows eleven-year-old Jonquil (known as Quil) Medway, a girl with more than an unusual name. Quil’s parents died in a car accident when she was a baby and Quil now goes to boarding school, but spends her holidays …

I am about 15 days late with this announcement, but for anyone who didn't know already, the fourth and final book in Emily Rodda's new series Star of Deltora -The Hungry Isle - was released on September 1, 2016. Go run to the book stores and get yourself your copies! :) I am excited to read my own copy once it arrives all the way over from Australia, from Marc McBride.

Today I discovered this higher resolution version of the cover for The Hungry Isle, in the September 2016 Trade Parade catalogue from Scholastic, released at Issu.com, seemingly before Scholastic did it. I don't believe they have it up even now. To see the catalogue go to this link, https://issuu.com/scholastic_australia/docs/september_trade_parade

As you will notice, the cover art seems a bit brighter and fader in color in the catalogue, but for some reason, everytime I try to upload it to the wiki or put it in some image editor online, like the one on Pixlr.com (haven't tried one on my PC) the color turns darker. Does anyone know the reason for this, and can you possibly fix it for me, unless this is actually the way the original file was …

A very low resolution cover for The Hungry Isle has appeared at http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/194788829?selectedversion=NBD55067344 Time to head to the Deep Web and find a better version yes? Anyone want to help?

I just can't believe this series is almost over! It seemed a bit short, didn't it? Amazing, but short. Like meeting your favorite friends once again, even if the old characters did not appear in the books...

Hi there folks! I've only recently finished reading the newest book in the Star of Deltora series, The Towers of Illica! There's plenty to discuss and explore in the newest chapter in Britta's journey. As such, there will be spoilers.

In the novel, we see Britta and co. reaching the island of Illica, home to the descendants of pirates whose three families collect rare objects in their towers. Naturally, a new island has me pretty excited, especially in regards to the lore and world of Deltora. Once again, the Star of Deltora is met with an awkward introduction and see's Britta, Jewel and Vashti invited to stay the night at one of the towers. This leaves Britta and Jewel to have a moment to explore the town, and a what a place it is! The idea of…

The Towers of Illica is listed on page 6-7 of Scholastic's new cataogue for books coming out in April 2016. Some new info is available. The book's ISBN/APN is 9781742990644. It is 176 pages long. The size of the book, like the previous installments in the series, re 198 x 128 mm. And it is going to cost 15.99 AUD. The background image used on page 6 is a painting of a cliff next to the sea, with a lighthouse and seabirds circing above, and it is likely that this is supposed to be the island of Illica.

Furthermore, there is a golden-coloured graphic of Australia for some reason, which appears several times in the text. At first I thought it was a new islan. Illica? The Isle of Tier maybe? Who knows? When I extracted the vector graphic as an i…

Back in May, April from the April's Bookworld blog and the YouTube channel Aprilius Maximus had a chance to read Shadows of the Master, the first book in Emily Rodda's upcoming series Star of Deltora. She made a short review of the book in the video above, but meanwhile linked to a longer, more in-depth written review on her blog. It is a very informative review. It tells us when the book takes place and the basic gist of what it is about. I do warn people, however, that the written review contains minor spoilers, so for anyone who wish to wait until August in order to read the book themself and discover everything for the first time, you may want to stay away from this. Image Licenses

September 10, 2013 by Belt of Deltora

    Hi everyone,

I've been busy adding templates and coding certain things; the usual. Lately, I've been working on adding licenses templates to images that show their copyright and licensing info. The info, to my knowledge, is correct, as I've checked the copyright info shown in the books and anime. More details can be found on the individual templates.

I've created three templates to suit out needs:

    1. 'Imagebox Scan' This is used for all images/scans of anything found in the books.

    2. 'Imagebox Cover' This is used for any images/scans of any covers of the books.

    3. 'Imagebox Anime' This is used for any screenshots from the anime.

An example can be found here. If need be, I will create more templates, although I think this should cover it all pretty …

    New colour!

May 6, 2013 by Belt of Deltora

    Hi all!

I've updated the templates, so when the 'Colour' field is left blank, it appears grey instead of black. This is helpful for characters who's tribe is unknown. Instead of having the default as black, where the reader would get confused as to whether they were from the Shadowlands.

Missing you guys! Would be great to catch up with all you sometime.

    • I've re-coded the templates completely, so now, with infoboxes, when a field is left black, it won't appear.

    • Many new pages have been created, like the Topaz Dragon, Ruby Dragon species pages. Mostly using information from Secrets of Deltora, this makes it easier to find out information about specific Dragon species.

Some other things have also changed but they don't aff…
