Tales of Deltora (new edition, the tale "The Sorcerers of Dorne")
Annoltis, also known as Olt, is the older brother of Eldannen, better known as Sorcerer Dann, and Malverlain, called Verlain by his brothers and commonly known as the Shadow Lord. Olt was the Chieftain of Dorne after his father. He is the son of the quarter-Fellan man named Peregrine and the female Fellan named Alenan.
Olt's younger brother Dann advised him for centuries until Olt decided to begin the tradition of the annual Gifting, which was a ritual happening every Midsummer Eve involving killing young people and sacrificing them so that Olt may live longer. Dann, who did not approve of what Olt was doing, gathered up his followers and left with them to found the walled city of Weld. 7 years after these events, Olt is killed during the second Gifting when Rye saves his friends and brother from being sacrificed to Olt, using the Sorcerer Dann's magic.[1]
Physical appearance
When he was younger, Olt had flaming, red hair like his brothers, due to the Fellan magic inherited from his mother's side.
During the day of the Gifting that included Sonia, Dirk, Faene, and four other sacrifices, Olt was wearing a purple velvet cloak with a white-furred hood. The skin of his face was described as hanging over his bones, blotched with patches of grey-green that looked like fungus, and his thin lips were shrunken back from his yellowed teeth. His hands were described to be like those of a skeleton, but his sunken eyes, ringed with shadow, were burning.[1]
Personality
In his younger years, Olt was described as being high-spirited, and handsome and popular like his father. He mixed with his people with ease, and loved the sea and all that was in it.[1]
